living the earth, the musical i got sucked into the live earth concert all-day-long telecasts on bravo and sundance channels more than a few times today. was psyched to see phil collins rocking out. was entertained seeing dave matthews riffing and improving and jamming like my high school haydays of old. was a bit jarred to see duran duran looking so old and not sounding their sweet 80's-ish selves. thought foo fighters rocked. loooved david gray crooning babylon. thought kanye west still has his crazy beat that drives me giddy. but i have to admit many did not sound their on-pitch best - black eyed peas, smashing pumpkins, even dave was a little screechy. disappointing, but still those are some crazy concerts, and if any of them reach out and motivate some smart young'ins to help turn this earth around, then i'm jumping on board, cause the kids are where it's at - i really think they'll be the ones to save us, not us old crotchedy-stuck-in-our-ways grown-ups. |
